La utopía como rapto del futuro
La referencia al “futuro luminoso” es recurrente en múltiples utopías. En esta pieza medito sobre la luz, en su carácter simbólico (guía, verdad, conciencia plena) y las distopías en doctrinas o sistemas que se yerguen como razones absolutas.
En la utopía no hay que hacer preguntas, porque todo está ya resuelto. Quien interroga, por el solo hecho de hacerlo, supone que hay algo no previsto o realizado: es un crítico, un enemigo, un cáncer eliminable. Si ella no poseyese toda la luz, no sería utopía.

Utopia as the abduction of the future
The reference to the «bright future» recurs in multiple utopias. In this piece, I meditate on light, its symbolic character (guidance, truth, mindfulness), and dystopias in doctrines or systems that stand as absolute reasons.
In utopia, there’s no need to ask questions, because everything is already resolved. Anyone who questions, by the mere fact of doing so, assumes there’s something unforeseen or unfulfilled: they’re a critic, an enemy, an erasable cancer. If it didn’t possess all the light, it wouldn’t be utopia.

FORMALIZACIÓN reúne sellos empleados en gestiones legales, enunciados y órdenes burocráticas. Los trámites legales implican procesos de resolución ansiada, a menudo urgente y hasta desesperada. Requisitos, plazos, formularios, justificantes, tazas, sellos… su ejecución determina estatus y derechos. Contrasta el sistema reglado frío, con la naturaleza emocional del tramitador.
En SUBSANACIÓN empleo sellos antiguos de Cuba, pertenecientes al Comité Estatal del Trabajo y la Seguridad Social, al Ministerio de Salud MINSAP y a la Imprenta militar IMP. La subsanación de errores en Cuba es un proceso legal muy recurrente. Los errores resultan de un trabajo realizado sin motivación, en condiciones inadecuadas y escasa remuneración. La pretensión de excusar o sanar desaciertos es también una constante en el discurso político universal.
FORMALIZATION brings together the hallmarks used in legal procedures, statements, and bureaucratic orders. Legal procedures involve processes of long-awaited, often urgent, and even desperate resolution. Requirements, deadlines, forms, receipts, fees, stamps… their execution determines status and rights. It contrasts the cold, regulated system with the emotional nature of the process.
In CORRECTION, I use old Cuban stamps belonging to the State Committee for Labor and Social Security, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Health (MINSAP), and the Military Printing Office (IMP). Correcting errors in Cuba is a very common legal process. Errors result from work performed without motivation, under inadequate conditions, and with little pay. The attempt to excuse or correct mistakes is also a constant in universal political discourse.
